Alleged Abu Sayyaf member killed in Bohol

One of two Abu Sayyaf members who held two people hostage at Barangay Kahayag in Calape, Bohol was killed, the military said Monday.

Lt. Col. Joel Malig of the 47th Infantry Battalion confirmed that the man only identified as alias "Asis" is dead.

Authorities are still hunting for the other suspect, alias "Ubayda."

Pursuit operations against the bandits were launched after they held hostage an old man named Baludo Tuloy and his grandchild.

Residents said the men in black with long firearms rode a motorcycle.

The two are supposedly part of the 11-man Abu Sayyaf group which attacked the town of Inabanga in April to conduct kidnapping plots during the Holy Week.

The encounter with the military resulted in the death of 9 people, including 5 terrorists.
